URSULA LANGMAYR, Sopran, was born in Linz. She graduated in vocal studies at the Mozarteum university in Salzburg, where she studied with Ingrid Janser-Mayr and Wolfgang Holzmair.
By now Ursula Langmayr can refer to her collaboration with notable conductors, orchestras and artists such as Dennis Russell Davies, Beat Furrer, Russell Ryan, Paul Gulda, Erwin Ortner, Klangforum Wien and many others at Austrian and international festivals (among which are Wien Modern, the Vienna Festival, steirischer herbst, the styriarte, the Salzburg Festival, the Carinthischer Sommer, MaerzMusik Berlin, Warsaw Autumn and the Wagner Festival Wels).
She has sung with the Vokalensemble NOVA since 1996. She has acquired experience in opera as, amongst other rôles, Eurydice in the Austrian premiere of Philip Glass´ Orpheo in Salzburg, Sandrina in Mozart´s La finta giardiniera in the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Philharmonic Hall in Luxembourg, in the opera Idiot (Johannes Harneit) at the Vienna Schauspielhaus, as Weltgeist in Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebots at the Carinthischer Sommer 2006, as an angel in the world premiere of Ich, Hiob by Thomas Daniel Schlee at the Carinthischer Sommer 2007/08, as Maria in Jyrki Linjama´s opera Die Geburt des Täufers at the Carinthischer Sommer 2010, as well as in the Linz09 opera Fouch´ by Franz Hummel.
Her work has also led her to the Centre Pompidou in Paris, to the Opera House in Graz, the Klassikmusikfest Mühlviertel and to the IGNM Tage in Bern, where she performed György Kurtag´s Kafka-Fragmente with great success.

The CD What can we poor females do?, which Ursula Langmayr has recorded together with the mezzo-soprano Christa Ratzenböck, was awarded the Pasticcio prize of Ö1, the first radio station of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation.
