IRENA YEBUAH TIRAN Mezzo-soprano
IRENA YEBUAH TIRA , mezzo-soprano, received singing tuition from Prof. Doroteja Cestnik-Spasic, Prof. Ingrid Janser-Mayr and, for Lied and Oratorio, from Prof. Wolfgang Holzmair at the Mozarteum university in Salzburg.
She has been awarded prizes in several competitions and has taken part in various master classes with, for example, Marjana Lipovsek, Margreet Honig and Grace Bumbry.
Irena Yebuah Tiran celebrated her operatic debut as Cherubino in W.A. Mozart´s Le Nozze di Figaro in 2000 at the Ljubljana Opera House. Further engagements followed upon this, amongst which were Ernestina in L´occasione fa il ladro by Gioachino Rossini and Linetta in The Love of Three Oranges by Serge Prokofiev.
As a soloist in demand both at home and abroad she works regularly with well-known conductors and orchestras; among these are the Slovenian Philharmonic and the Slovenian Radio Orchestra. Her appearances have led her to national and international festivals such as Wien Modern, the styriarte, the Carinthischer Sommer, Berlin Modern, the Ljubljana Festival, the Festival Lent Maribor, the Festival Radovljica and many more.
Since 2002 she has been a member of the Vokalensemble NOVA, with which she particularly enjoys performing contemporary music (e.g. Luciano Berio´s Sinfonia together with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra or with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra).
Irena Yebuah Tiran also holds a special affinity for the genre Musical. Thus, for example, she achieved great success in Maribor with a production of Wonderful Town by Leonard Bernstein.
